1. Avoid comparing yourself with other people.

Nowadays, in the era of digitalization, we cannot help but see the achievements and success stories of different persons with just one scroll on different social media platforms. Some of them might be coming from your close friends, schoolmates, acquaintances. Witnessing these moments of other people is a double-edged sword. Some people see it negatively or positively. A person can use it to self-pity about their social status and have feelings of envy towards their peers but they can also use it as an inspiration to improve on different aspects of their lives to become better versions of themselves.

Shift your perception to the latter option, life is meant to be abundant. Crab mentality must be eliminated from our mindsets! Always put in mind that the only competition that you must have is the one with yourself. Learn to applaud the victories of other people while focusing on improving yourself every single day. Every one of us will eventually reach our breakthrough!

2. Invest in your health

Never hesitate to invest in good health. Good health is a prerequisite to building self-confidence. With the proper healthy habits, I’m pretty sure that you can achieve self-confidence as soon as possible. Here are some healthy habits that you can consider to kick start your 2022.

Healthy Habit 1: Drink 8-10 glasses of water

Not only will it keep you hydrated, but drinking water regularly will improve your overall skin health and beauty. It prevents different skin problems and premature wrinkles. Other studies show that it is helpful in losing residual fat in the midsection areas.

Healthy Habit 2: Have an active lifestyle

Exercise is one of the most effective ways to build self-confidence. In a 2016 study published in the National Library of Medicine, increased physical activity greatly helped in building self-confidence. Working out will make you feel good and look good about yourself.

All you need to do is to do your research on what book you should purchase and start by reading 10 pages per day. 4. Improve your Communication skills

Being an excellent communicator is one of the best skills that you can develop to build self-confidence. Communication is defined as the act of communicating from one entity to another using understood symbols, and rules, while communication skills are a series of activities for giving and receiving various types of information.

I’ve been there as well. During my younger years, I’ve struggled to build my self-confidence because I have poor communication skills. I find it awkward to socialize with other people and to take on different opportunities because my anxiety kicks in rapidly whenever there is a need for me to report or express my thoughts. The good thing is that I take mindful action to improve on this aspect. In 3 years, I mastered the art of communication and gained my self-confidence up to the point that I am already getting a lot of great opportunities in my 20s. Here are some of the things that I did to improve on this particular aspect.

  • Join workshops that focus on public speaking skills.
  • Attend social gatherings such as parties, reunions, etc.
  • Study grammar lessons to effectively communicate your thoughts.
  • If given a chance to speak, volunteer to step up in this particular challenge.
  • Read books that focus on how to become an effective communicator.
  • Be proficient in a particular language that you usually use when interacting with others.

5. Eliminate the impostor syndrome

Impostor syndrome is a negative mindset where you think that your past achievements don’t matter at all. This is detrimental to self-confidence because when doubt kicks in, you feel inferior to yourself. To eliminate this, use a journal to write down your past achievements to remind you about the things that you already accomplished. It is helpful because it is setting up your mindset to become optimistic.

To sum it up, We’ve talked about self-confidence and discussed the different life hacks that I’ve used that can help you as well to improve in this particular aspect which includes avoiding comparing yourself with other people, investing in your health, reading books that tackle self-confidence, improving your communication skills and by eliminating the impostor syndrome.
