Time. One of the best perks about life is that we have been given 24 hours a day. It’s up to us whether we spend them correctly, or waste them instead. Time is so indispensable that a lot of people fail to realize how precious it is when we think we have all the time in the world. Money can’t buy happiness, but so can time.

Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and other top millionaires in the world has a very obvious similarity with us, that they also have the same time to spend every day. But the difference is that they know how to spend them wisely and correctly. They don’t know how to cheat time, but they know how to manage it. They are the rulers of their own schedule.

What are you values to be successful in life? Do you struggle to manage your time because you’re so busy? And does it affect the other areas of your life?

Today, we’ll not just discuss about how to increase work productivity, but also how to manage your time in every sections of your life.

  1. Love yourself. I read countless books about self-improvement and one thing I learned to unleash what we truly are is to first love ourselves. It sounds a little out of the book but if you think on the other side of the coin, we only live once. If you don’t take care of yourself and decided to just keep working continuously, it’s like your just firing a gun without aiming it. Eventually, you’ll realize that you are also a human that needs to take a rest and recharge for what’s next.

There’s a story about a father that keeps working straight for 20 years. He doesn’t care about his family because his goal is to earn as much as he can before he retires. He loses his sight to the most important things to spend time with, As a result, when he’s old and ready to get along with his family he discovered that he has cancer and he only has 6 months to live. Take care of yourself, because when you do that, you’ll become more productive.

2. Check your values.

Once you have a clear picture of your priorities – that is values, goals and high leverage activities – organize them around

Stephen R. Covey

Pain is one of the reasons people keep from being productive. Most of them escape their realities by playing games, watching shows, or gambling. This could be an escape, but for how long? In the end, it’s just a temporary diversion to the problem that doesn’t solve anything. Do you love yourself? Does it cross your mind that you should do anything to help your family? Then if your answer is yes, embrace the pain and move forward. It’s the only way. Even if it’s painful or dreadful, stick to your values and do what you think is right. Before you become a public success, you first need to suffer public humiliation. One day, you’ll harvest all the seeds that you planted. Make sure to keep your values under check because they’re like a compass that you need whenever you decide on a situation.

3. Find your vision

The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.

Kalpana Chawla

What do you want to become? Who will you be in 10 years? People are not lazy, they just have impotent goals. These are breakthrough questions when you decided to face the pain and the process. If you love yourself and value your family, envision your goals, live with them, embrace the challenges, and move forward even if your crawling. You have to point to the right direction in order for you to hit the target, because you miss 100% of your shots that you don’t take.

4. Drive your vehicle

If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.

Barrack Obama

Do you know how to get to your goals? If yes, what kind of mental vehicle are you using?

Why do you think birds fly? Because the birds have wings, it’s their physical trait and core gift. Do you know what it’s called? Use your skills if you want to be more productive. List down all the skills you have and enumerate those that you enjoy the most or that you’re good at. After that, focus on those skills and enhance them. Manny Pacquiao didn’t learn boxing in one day; he became a pound-for-pound champion because he enhanced his skills. Malcom Gladwell’s Outliers book states that if you want to be successful in life, you should spend 10,000 hours honing a specific talent that you have. Use your core skills to be more productive.

  • 5. Work hard

Unless you are willing to drench yourself in your work beyond the capacity of the average man, you are just not cut out for positions at the top

JC Penny

Lastly, if you want to be successful in life you should swear an oath to use the tools that you’ve learned today. At the end of the day hard work beats talent. Which means that you won’t get rewarded by developing your talent. You only get rewarded for delivering your talent and showing it to the world who you really are.

Final thoughts

These are the main tools of how you can improve your productivity from yourself, work, and your family. It’s a mental reorganization that will bring you closer to your objectives.

Finally, it’s safe to say that to achieve your goals, it starts from you. But you have to remember that the reason we are here is for other people as well, to help them, and unleash their potentials.
