Being a Virtual Assistant (or VA) is both demanding and rewarding at the same time. The more tasks you can do, the more you will be in demand as a VA.
But of course, without the help tools, doing many tasks at the same time can overwhelm anyone, no matter how organized and skillful a person you are.
Imagine being asked by a client to organize his/her schedules and appointments and you only use the good-old organizer or planner? Of course, it’s effective in a way but efficiency wise? We need more than a pen and a paper.
Luckily, gone were the days when we had to do everything manually. Today, there are different application software and online tools that will help virtual assistants to do their tasks easier. I listed some of the soft wares and apps for you (I also included links if you want to check them out.)

It is an online management application where users can create task boards with different columns. It can be used for personal or business. From lesson planning and school bulletin boards to software projects and real estate management, you can do it using Trello.
Alternatives for Trello: ClickUp, Asana, Airtable, Teamwork.2
It is a collection of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed and marketed by Google. It integrates Gmail, Calendar, Docs and Sheets among others. What’s more is you can access all those for free.
Alternatives for Google Workspace: Microsoft Office 365, Rackspace, Slack, Zoho. 4
A free online graphic design platform used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. It allows you to edit photos without extensive photo editing knowledge or experience. You can also make invitations, business cards, resumes, design company logos and many more.
Alternatives for Canva: Adobe Spark, Visme, Crello, Stencil, Snappa, Pixlr.7
Zoom is a secure reliable platform that provides video telephony and online chat services. It is widely used for communication needs such as inline meetings, chat, phone, webinars and online events.
Alternatives for Zoom: Skype, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting.9
A writing assistant tool that reviews spelling, grammar, punctuation marks etc. for a clear, mistake-free writing. It will surely help when composing your client’s mail!
Alternatives for Grammarly: ProWritingAid, Sapling, Ginger, PaperRater.11
There are many other software tools and apps out there that wasn’t on the list. And with different clients, you must expect different preferences when it comes to apps and softwares they use for their company or businesses.
So, It’s always best to learn even just the basics of some of those on the list. After all, learning is a continuous process that virtual assistants need to innovate themselves.
